The existing control system of LED display transmits data with unidirectional open circuit way, but if any one of transmission paths was on the event of failure, LED display would not show correctly. In response to this problem, this paper presents a Bidirectional loop redundancy program. This program adopts the Gigabit Ethernet technology to build a bidirectional transmission loop in the data route to make each receiver card have two input data streams; it increases a back-up data route and improves the reliability of data transmissions.Theoretical calculations showed that bidirectional loop redundancy program can improve the data transmission reliability by about 1.7 times compared with unidirectional open circuit program. The test results also showed that the fault-tolerance and reliability of the control system which used bidirectional loop redundancy program was largely improved.
