With the rapid development of the computer technology, the network technology,the control technology and the multimedia technology, the video monitoring system hasbecome the focus of control. This paper based on the contemporary researches ofremote monitoring technology and its applications, with the mind of softwareengineering, makes a deep analysis of the system requirements, then puts the majordesign program forward and elaborates the functions of the system in the end. VisualC++ 6.0 is choose to set up the remote video monitoring system platform based on GRBmanipulator, after analyzing the system hardwares and the key technologies which weare going to work with.Paper adopts the MPEG-4 video compression algorithm which is mature and easyto encoded, realized transmission of real-time video streaming in the IP MulticastNetwork based on the RTP/RTCP protocol combined with Winsock technologies,proposes measures to reduce the time delay based on the analysis of the composition ofthe delay, makes the system good in structure, revisability and maintenance by usingmulti-threaded programming and modular design, and adopts a more comprehensiveuser management technology to ensure the security of system networks application. Allof advanced technologies above make the system more stable, real time and easy tooperate.Finally, on the basis of analysis of the existing system, a few improvements wereproposed, which including how to enhance the security and reduce the response time,also, the binocular vision and speech recognition technology is introduced. Someimprovements already have been tested, and others are just a vision need verifying inthe future.
