As a primary communication technology in 3G, WCDMA has been widely adopted all over the world. R99 is the first release of WCDMA, and it has been also the most mature one by far. HSUPA is the latest release which aims to increase the uplink data transmission rate and develop the system capacity. However, as a wireless communication system, the signal transmitted on the wireless channel should be affected by multipath fast fading and the received quality of the signal will be lowered. RAKE receiver technology researched in this dissertation can decrease the influence of the multipath fast fading effectively.Based on the introduction of the technology characteristic of WCDMA HSUPA and diversity technology, the dissertation has researched the principle and software realization of multipath search, channel estimate, channel equalization and MRC which are applied to the uplink RAKE receiver respectively used in R99 and HSUPA. Meanwhile, it has been brought forward in the dissertation that different channel estimate arithmetics should be used in different wireless channel environment in order to have better receive effect, and through the test, it is proved that channel estimate arithmetic which uses thirty-five DPCCH symbol will get better receive performance in low speed environment, while twenty-two DPCCH symbol will get better receive performance in high speed environment.
