Research On UML-Based Ontology Representation Method

With the widely application of Ontology in various fields, ontology representation has become one of hot spots in recent years, Nowadays there are many kinds of ontology language which are mainly based on predicate calculus,chart and web-oriented. Through analysis and research found that the mainstream ontology language have some problems: First of all, it is difficult for common users to use ontology language,most of which are based on complex syntax and logic; The second,many ontology language only focus on display, ignore programme on ontology knowledge base and reuse. In the era of object-oriented technology, there is an urgent need to research a ontology representation,UML is a standard object-oriented modeling language issued by OMG, there are many basic relations in UML which are similar to ontology relation,such as generalization, association, aggregation and composition. UML is object-oriented modeling language, represent ontology using object-oriented idea in favor of reuse of ontology. At the same time,UML not only has support of database and mature development environment, but also has a large number of software developer which are familiar with UML,so the methord will have promotion and researchful value. Therefore the paper choose to use UML represent ontology.In the needs of based-UML ontology representation research, based on the result of research of UML applied to ontology and ontology representation, ontology representation view and knowledge representation are analyzed; The thesis puts forward a based-UML ontology representation method UBOR, which is using graphs of UML and defined grammar represent concept, attribute, function, model and so on in ontology, on the basis of representation, a kind of reasoning mechanism is designed, in view of the advantage of production reasoning, UBOR reasoning mechanism adopt the new method that is combine traditional production reasoning method with object-oriented idea, the simple reasoning can be realized. Related and basal research of UBOR is expatiated, as well as reasoning model, reasoning knowledge base and reasoning arithmetic is discussed in the thesis.
