There are two main problems existing in the current MS-Office-based Computer-aided Assessing Systems in the market: First of all, question database of the system is not accessible, that is to say, all the questions are pre-fixed, disallowing any modification from the user's side, and the content of the database can only be updated by the developer. It is the same case with the assessing program: as each question corresponds to an individual program which is fixed, when additional questions are demanded, the source program has to be modified via the developer, which will end up with a huge amount of software maintenance work. Secondly, the assessed knowledge points of MS-Office can not be altered either. Software developers often program in accordance with a certain assessment framework, while different industries have varied emphases on Office Knowledge Assessment. As a result, the system can not meet fully all the assessing criteria from different industries.Besides, as the knowledge area covered by MS-Office itself is of such a wide scope that the auto-assessing system is not likely to refer to all. It happens very often that the knowledge points requested by the user are not covered by the auto-assessing system, and in order to add these knowledge points on, assistance from the developer is frequently demanded. In order to resolve the above problems, author of this article has carried out a series of researches and put forward a new approach. According to this new approach, the auto-assessing system itself is accessible to the user and also capable of second development, so that the user can upload requested assessing questions freely to the system via the system interface. This thesis is targeting the lack of accessibility and flexibility of the current MS-Office-based computer-aided automatic assessing systems. It brings forward a platform capable of second development in which the question database is accessible to the user and the assessing questions can be extended freely. This system is using COM plug-in as the basic composition unit and VBA as the main programming theme. It is aimed at optimizing users' investment and rewarding users with maximal economic benefits. This system has been well tested in the author's university as well as some junior colleges and correspondence colleges, and the effect is very positive.
