With the development of general aviation industry, more and more flight accidents, personal safeties of crews are concerned. Consequently, researches on crashworthiness of aircraft structures methods are increased dramatically. Booming of the internal general aviation industry also shows more pressing market demand. In this paper, design criteria, design and test methods of the crashworthiness are studied. The crash of the AC500 aircraft is simulated.First, the crash condition, impact loads and regulations of crashworthiness are analyzed. Differences among the requirements of crashworthiness in different regulations are compared. Crash conditions needed for TC are determined. Then kinds of plane structure collision failure which lead crew damage are analyzed. Design criteria of the fuselage structure with energy absorption to protect the crew are confirmed, and design measures of fuselage structures are proposed. The crashworthiness design demands and crashworthiness features of the AC500 aircraft are introduced. On the basis of the 3D digital mockup, the finite element model of fuselage structure is established. According to the test conditions, transient dynamics simulations for AC500 aircraft are done. Analysis and comparison of the experimental results is made. Based on the results, a modified design measure is suggested.
