Chongqing CATV Network Co.LTD had been set up in 2001 under the accordance of the country's "one CATV in a city", and on April 18, 2001 officially started. It is large high-tech company holding by the Chongqing Broadcasting Group (station) and Television Bureaus of 34 counties. After years of monopoly, the total asset of company increase from 431.87 million in 2002 to 526.45 million in 2005, or 21.9%. The information services market barriers removed in the last two years, some competitive opponents such as China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom will join the industry, Chongqing CATV is facing severe challenges and threats, the traditional management isn't suitable for the new situation, we must have a strategic vision management of the company will continue to develop further.This paper first outlined the concept of strategic management theory and the background and evolution, but also the history and development of Chongqing cable companies has a simple briefing; Then give a diagnosis of Chongqing Cable existing development strategy of the problems ; Further we analysis the cable industry through domestic the cable industry technical, policy environment, including the development of revenue forecasts, clarifying the cable industry on the development prospects for Chongqing Cable lay the foundation for strategic planning; On this basis, five of the matrix model and the competitive situation, external factors evaluation matrix of Chongqing in the entire cable industry in the background location and made a competitive analysis, the company compete more sober understanding of the situation and found themselves in a competitive position; according SWOT analysis, discussion of the Chongqing Cable development strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, planning the future of the Chongqing Cable's overall strategy for five years: "1 core 2 transition.
