Simulation-based Organizational Factors Analysis And Optimization Of Product Development Process

Product development is an important part related to the competition of products in modern firms. All the activities of development are taken by the product development organization, whose organizational structure, human resource configuration and human-being factors apparently affect the product development process. In order to study the mechanism of the organization affecting to process, the thesis puts forward a subject about simulation-based organizational factors analysis and optimization of product development process.First, we build up an organization-oriented product development process simulating model and describe a designers'behavior model, then analyze the state transition and action rules of the designers in the process, which make a good theory foundation for realizing the simulation of product development process.Second, the influence of the organization to the process is addressed from macro-level and micro-level are two different aspects. Organizational structure and work design are studied as macro-affecting factors, and the interaction behavior and failure behavior are analyzed as micro-affecting factors.Third, the organizational evaluation indices are presented based on the organizational factors analysis. Some algorithms of the organizational indices are put forward in order to quantitatively evaluate the product development organization.Finally, organizational factors in the process are analyzed through a series of simulating experiments. We verify and validate the simulation model of product development process, then find the shortcoming of a real product development organization, and at last develop some optimization scenarios of organization combined the analysis of organizational factors and organizational evaluation indices.It shows that organizational factors analysis is valid by product development process simulation. The analysis of the organizational evaluation indices is helpful to optimize the product development organization and make a great improvement of organizational efficiency, personal working efficiency and process quality.
