This paper stems from the Chongqing NSF project,"Research on optimal cover of WSN in three-dimensional", and the cooperative projects of Doctor Foundation,"Research on self-adapt mechanism of routing protocol for WSN". Based on the existing sensor networks work mechanism, this paper analysis radio wake-up work mechanisms, control the working state of WSN nodes with the radio wake-up module and make nodes could switching between sleeping and wake-up condition opportunely. This paper also analysis the simulation, and has demonstrated the advantages of this mechanism and reliability. In addition, we propose a new design method that can support up radio wake-up mechanism based on the research of radio wake-up mechanism. We are also given the corresponding design in the software and hardware, and other aspects.The main work and achievements of this paper are summarized as follows:1. This paper makes a summary of wireless sensor networks, summarizes and sums up the current situation of study on wireless sensor networks and development trend, discusses and analyzes the application of the wireless sensor networks and application prospect.2. On the basis of the analysis in the existing prevailing problem of limited energy of wireless sensor networks, this paper in-depth study of the wireless sensor network nodes working mechanism, as well as internal work order modules, performance indicators, and so on. This paper also made in-depth discussions and annotations on design theory, solve problems, work mechanisms.3. This paper designs a type of sensor network node base on radio wake-up mechanism. It also illustrates the design method of wireless sensor network node. Moreover, some circuit was simulated.4. It abstracts of the work environment, establishes a model and makes a simulation in the paper. It also quantitative calculates the power, life of network and other parameters, then qualitative analysises the real-time indicators. Thus, this paper confirms that the radio wake-up mechanism for wireless sensor networks could improve energy efficiency, prolong the life of sensor network.
