The discovery and the research of X-ray produce profound influence in physics field and even in the whole science technology. The principle of X-ray Radiography is that the attenuation X-ray transmitted through object generates fluorescence image in the presence of intensifying screen. X-ray Radiography is applied to the disease diagnosis commonly in medicine, furthermore, X-ray Radiography is also used to non-destructive examination and the security inspection.The digital X-ray Radiography mainly refers to the digital output way of X-ray image. In this way, the data can be stored,processed,transmitted,displayed fast and conveniently taking advantage of fast operating capability of computer. The combination of image technology and the computer technology produces revolutionary changes in medical imaging field. Digital radiography is one of the important ways of X-ray image digitization. X-ray photon is inverted to visible image through visible light inversion screen. Then the image is acquired by CCD(Charge Coupled Device) or CMOS(Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) image sensor to electrical signal. The digital X-ray image after digital image processing is stored,managed,transmitted,displayed in digital and electronic way. As a result, the X-ray imaging shakes off the dependence of traditional hard copy.The principle of digital X-ray imaging is introduced in this paper. The image pick-up system with the function of frame-accumulation is designed with the CCD image sensor and the associated peripheral circuits. With the addition of the appropriate X-ray resource,X-ray intensifying screen,image acquisition board and CCD camera, the X-ray imaging system used for imaging is finished. The digital X-ray images are processed with the way of contrast enhancement,filtering,edge enhancement,pseudo-color to display.The system is based on virtual instrument. Virtual instrument technology achieves one or more instruments'function to acquire needed data in virtue of data acquisition devices on computer, such as DAQ(Data Acquisition), GPIB(General-Purpose Interface Bus), VXI card and so on, and analyze, process, judge, display, store and control them in computer using software.The designed system is accomplished its function by the function module of Labview7.0 program. On Labview software platform, the non-matching image acquisition board is driven to operate and the image signal is processed to display on front panel. The function of image acquisition,image processing,image display can be finished with different programs, using constructed virtual instrument system with the same hardware devices and wire connections. To have a convenience experiment, the systems with different functions can be united to form a main system.Virtual instrument technology is the combination of computer technology and instrument technology and it is also the development trend of test technology and instrument technology. The digital X-ray imaging system based on Labview introduced in this paper shortens the research time effectively and improves the flexibility and efficiency of the system, taking advantage of the convenience of Labview graphic programming as well as the strong development function of virtual instrument and reducing the development cost. The combination of image technology and the computer technology produces revolutionary changes in medical imaging.
