The Development Of Army's Office Management System Based On Lotus Notes

With the development of army construction, there is a high demand in modernizing the army's official management and enhancing its efficiency and quality. In order to meet the needs of army's official work and to improve the present official situation, an OAS (Office Automation System)platform is essential to develop to strengthen the interior management and drive the informationization, electronization and modernization process of official management. Based on these objectives, an OAS platform called FISOAS(Frontier Inspection Station Office Automation System) is proposed in this thesis.On the basis of the practical demand of army's official management, FISOAS chooses Lotus Notes as its platform and makes future developments based on workflow technology to realize the document system, administrative affairs, archives management, personal affairs, watch system, electronic forum and other functions. It also explains some key techniques in Lotus Notes and the system design as well. This system offers some suitable solutions related to the specific techonology and security problem. For instance, client judgement and how to control the security.In FISOAS, an OA model which combines C/S (Client/Server)and B/S(Browser/Server) is applied in a creative way to realize the perfect combination of Notes and Web. The utilizations of Lotus script programming and encypting technology of Microsoft office promise the system's security performance, while the utilizations of CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) structure enable the users to make full use of the code resource and widen the application scope. What's more, FISOAS is extendible to other functions, which can realize the flexible integration of Lotus database and relational database.The FISOAS platform enable the users to transfer and examine the official documents conveniently and to communicate with other departments through LAN instantly. This platform provides a novel way to strengthen the communication between different departments and has crucial impacts on the enhancement of efficency and convenience of communication in practical applications. FISOAS shows its powerful performance and efficency when it is utilized in the frontier inspection station.
