China is a country lack of fresh water resources, in the coastal city of Dalian as a result of geographical conditions, public drinking water and industrial water mostly depend on groundwater resources. The intrusion of underground water by sea water has been deteriorated the situation in recent years in coastal areas. Therefore how effectively and accurately determine the changes groundwater quality is becoming more important.With the rapid development of embedded technology, there are already many types of water environment monitoring instruments which have been developed. These devices greatly facilitate the monitoring work. However, most of these equipments only have single function that people can't use them in multi-point monitoring projects as the shortcomings of certain aspects of the restrictions on observation results. For example: it only can monitor a single parameter; the cost of cable consumption is too expensive; many difficulties in the maintenance of imported equipment; the data transmission is inconvenience. According to the requirement of project, author designs a wireless communications groundwater quality monitoring system to meet the needs of users based on ZigBee, also provide a good platform and design ideas in the field of water quality security.In this thesis the author introduces the use of S3C2410 ARM-based processor, ZigBee and CDMA wireless communication technology in this groundwater quality security project in detailed. The system software and hardware are carried out specific modules by their functions. In the hardware design we use the unified interface, the modular design makes data collection node can work independently and can be integrated into the system as a whole. The communication protocols use standard industry protocol and the custom protocol to meet the requirements of each part of the system. It designs the specific software modules for the corresponding application and a detailed testing program for the entire system to further determine the usefulness and reliability of the system. The system design and practical application in the field of the corresponding, focus on the safety monitoring system hardware and software design are describe, also conclude the problem solution and the experience.
