The marine resources of our country are very abundant, especially the offshore oil and gas resource which take a great proportion. To exploit these resources, the pipes which are used to transport oil and gas in the bottom of the sea must be laid safely. So, as the main laying equipment, pipelaying vessel takes the important place in this special ocean engineering. The pipelaying vessel drags a very long pipe behind itself at work. Both the ship hull and the long pipe suffer strong disturbance from the wind, wave and surge which make that the pipelaying vessel can not sail along the planed route and also the turbine power system can not meet its demand. To solve this problem, some anchor windlasss should be installed both at the bow and the stern by which pipelaying vessel's azimuth can be controlled. The pipelaying vessel's moving control system work well basing on the regulation of those anchor cables.The model of the executive body and the controlled object is difficult to build because of its nonlinearity, coupling, large inertia, time variation and other uncertain complex motion characteristics so that the traditional control method can not be used scucessfully in the pipelaying vessel. Most domestic pipelaying vessels are equipped with manual platforms which have inconvenient operation, the bad readability and data merge, at the same time, the monitoring window display quite simple. With the advance of science and technology, both data processing unit and automation method have great improvement which makes it possible to apply them in engineering. The intelligent pipelaying vessel's shift control platform studied in the paper follows the trend. It is compatible and to make up manual platform's functions.The paper developes a set of shift control software used in the host computer of the intelligent pipelaying vessel. It includes the man-machine dialog interface and some function modules such as operation information process, operation flow control, system function extension, the data communication and so on. It offers a multifunctional simulation and application platform with friendly man-machine interface. In the paper, an intelligent control method is tentatively proposed to make a unique parallel connection regulation with fuzzy controller and article neural network. This has great reference and guidance significance in other complex intelligen system.
