This project is supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 50675026)—"The Investigation of Multi-Piezoelectric Effect and the Application on Sensoriactuators".Since Curie brothers discovered the piezoelectricity of quartz crystal in 1880, the research on piezoelectric effect has already expanded from the 2-dimensional effect based on stress analysis, namely the longitudinal effect, transverse effect and sheer effect to the 3-dimensional effect based on the deformation analysis, such as the extending effect, compressing effect, bending effect and torsional effect.The research on theory and applieation of piezoeleetrie effete has already developed rapidly. However, almost all of the researehes before foeused on the first Piezoeleetrie effeet. With the technology development and practical engineering requirement, the further study of theory and application of multi-piezoelectric effect is needed because induced electric field and induced strain of the multi-piezoelectric effect are more and more miniature. Among the documents reported overseas and domestically, there is a little research on the secondary piezoelectric effect and there is no research on the application of the secondary piezoelectric effect and the theory and application of the multi-piezoelectric effect.This paper analyzes the relationship between the first, secondary and multi-piezoelectric effect and the mechanical and electric boundary conditions of the crystals. Only when the corresponding boundary conditions are satisfied, the multi-piezoelectric effect can occur.The basic research on application of multi-piezoelectric effect on sensoriactuator and the investigation of the application of secondary converse piezoelectric effect beginning from the first direct effect are made. Based on PZT-5 ceramics piece, the first direct and secondary converse piezoelectric effects are simulated with ANSYS. With the output of the simulation, the correctness of mathematical expressions of multi-piezoelectric effect is conformed. By employing quartz crystal and PZT-5 ceramics stack, the first direct, secondary converse and third direct piezoelectric effect and application feasibility are confirmed by the experiment starting from the direct piezoelectric effect.The generating actuation sensor based on the first direct and the second converse piezoelectric effect is researched and developed which used the PZT-5 ceramics stack and the sensor and the actuator function in the same direction.The correspoding circuit has been fabricated for output controllability .And the circuit debugging has been carried on. And the experiments have shown that the generating actuation sensor can be applied to the engineering practice and to achieve two-stage positioning reliably.
