ECG is a subject which has strong practice, and its theory is complex and abstract. The ECG instruction is very important and difficult in diagnostics instruction. To do it well, the ECG instruction must be combined with practice. But papery materials or their copies are adopted in the traditional ECG instruction. And it's hard to find the practical instruction material for clinical ECG. So it is hard to reach the ideal results.Aim at the shortcomings in recent ECG instruction, the paper makes a meaningful attempt in the combination of ECG instruction and multi-media technology, and develops the ECG assisted instruction system. The system contains two parts-hardware and PC applications. While the hardware contains Simulation subsystem and ECG acquisition subsystem, the PC applications contains keyboard simulation procedure, data transfer procedure and 12-lead ECG displaying procedure.The paper analyzes the characteristics of 12-lead ECG waveform data. And the system compresses the ECG data before storage it to save the storage space and improve the efficiency of data transmission. Then aiming at the MCS-51 single-chip, the paper researches and implements a method to access data address space more than 64KB, which has been applied in the system. With using high-capacity Flash Memory, Simulation subsystem is able to store thousands of cases. When communicating with PC, the system is easy to download new cases.The paper takes some anti-jamming measures to improve the system. Isolation circuit is designed in the communication interface. In ECG acquisition subsystem, USB controller, which contains SPI interface, is used to communicate with PC. By isolating the SPI interface, USB isolation is implemented indirectly.Finally, we analyze and test the system, and put it into practice. As a result, it satisfies requirement analysis. The Simulation subsystem is very convenient in assisted instruction. While a new sample of heart disease occurs, the data can be downloaded to the Simulation subsystem rapidly and applied into instruction. The ECG acquisition subsystem can provide intuitionistic, vivid and intelligible ECG. The system has been put into practice and works wells.
