As the rapid development of science and technology, information technology has been entering into digital age. With the digital broadcast of TV programs, the traditional TV media is evolving into a brand-new and enormous digital TV industry when its technology and function combine with the method in information and communication field. The digital Set Top Box (STB) is the typical outcome of the development of digital TV industry. Digital STB is a television network terminal connecting with TV set, which is used to provide high quality TV programs to audience. But until now, the R&D of digital STB software is total based on the embedded cross compiler and debugger environment, the development speed of STB software can't catch up to the rapidly increasing market demand. The Digital STB Software Integrated Development Platform which we design and develop can rapidly, effectively and visually design STB application software under Windows on PC.In this paper, after presenting the software demand of the Digital STB Software Integrated Development Platform under Windows, it summarily explains the whole platform architecture which we designed. According to what I had done in this project, this paper presents in detail how to design and implement the STB software simulator. The working method of the STB software simulator under Windows is described in this paper. It is also explained how to simulate the STB Operation System and GUI with Win32 APIs. In the end, this paper shows the working effect in designing STB application software using the platform's IDE and simulator, also it sums up the platform's significance and incompletion.
