Management Information System (MIS) has become a key factor of various kinds of contemporary social organizations in manufacturing products, offering services and managing organizations. The effective application of information technology and system is an important way that enterprises acquire the advantage in market competition. The small-to-medium-sized manufacturing enterprises which establish and use MIS can improve their market reaction speed, shorten the product development cycle, increase the manufacturing flexibility, strengthen the cost controlling, and then enhance their competitive power.This thesis focuses on analyzing, designing and implementing MIS for General Middle-scale Mechanical Plant. According to B/S structure, the database design, architecture design, business function design and implementation are introduced sequentially. The main work includes the following:Firstly, through structured system development methodology, the business process of Discrete Mechanical Plant is investigated and analyzed, and subsequently the overall functional structure of the system is presented, and the planning principles are established. The principles are practical, open and standardization, scalability, security and reliability, economy.Secondly, the emphasis is given on the conceptual design, logical design and physical design of the system and the methods of creating database. After comparative analyzing the J2EE and DotNet, this thesis then discusses the system network architecture and system architecture. The five-layer development framework is: presentation, control, domain, data mapping and infrastructure. On this basis, the business process arrangement and the implementation of most functional modules under B/S are given in detail.Thirdly, it describes some characteristics and key technology of the system, such as applying the AJAX, authority customization, the pagination transmission of massive data, the authority customization mechanism, applying data patterns in programming.Finally, a summary of the thesis is made and the direction for the future work is put forward.
