RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is an advanced automatic identification technology. It realizes automatic identification and management of all kinds of objects or equipments in different states through the use of some advanced technical means. With the maturity of RFID technologies and standards, RFID industry is developing rapidly in recent years in many countries.The reader is an important part of the RFID system. To adapt to the functions'variability in RFID system, the reader should integrated more convenient functions, which mainly focus on the more frequency bands of the tags'reading, integration of multiple data interfaces and wireless communication module, also the miniaturization, modularization and portability of the whole RFID system, etc. In allusion to such requirements, this thesis uses X86 architecture processor to design and realize such a multi-function and multi-service RFID dual-frequency reader. Using X86 system to integrate the reader function design is just the innovative point of the thesis.The thesis firstly introduces the concept of RFID technology and the composing of the system. The working principle of RFID reader is primarily expatiated. Then the thesis introduces the hardware designing thinking of RFID reader. Accordingly, the thinking of using X86 architecture processor to design RFID reader is proposed aiming at the goal of multi-function and multi-service designing. On this basis, the thesis describes implement principle of RFID dual-frequency reader from two aspects of hardware platform and bottom driver, focusing on solving the problem in hardware platform and driver design. In the part of hardware, according to the modules of processor core, information processing platform and expand board which are divided by function, the hardware designing principle and implement means are explained, the whole hardware scheme of the reader is analyzed completely and exhaustively. Also, a good solution is proposed according to the need to pay attention to the stability in design, power and other issues. In the part of bottom driver, the structure of the software system is analyzed, the driver design of expand serial port module is elaborated. Finally, the work in this thesis is summed up. Then it presents the aspects which need improving and refining in the system. The application foreground of the RFID dual-frequency reader is illuminated as well.
