The compact disc is the most important medium of information transmission and data storage in today's society. As a important branch of CD family, recordable optical disc written one time brings users greater freedom in respect of data processing and exchange, therefore it is favored by the people and has stimulated the rapid development of manufacturing industry of recordable discs as soon as it appears on the market. Optimal Control of the production process and effective testing has been the key to high-quality CD products.This paper based on the production process of 8X DVDR high-density recordable discs comes from the research of a recordable CD factory. In order to optimizing the present process, collecting data and finding internal laws, in this paper a detailed analysis and mathematical description and experiments for the key processes such as injection molding and dye coating are carried on. Meanwhile, the test technology of recordable optical disc is detailedly introduced, especially; some routine test parameters such as important mechanical parameters, optical parameters, geometrical parameters and electrical signal parameters are technically described. The key of control the disc quality is to find the relationship between process parameters and the electrical capabilities. This is done in two steps: first step is from process parameters to physical parameters, second step is from physical parameters to electrical signals. While the first step is based on test experiments and process analysis, the second step is based upon simulation. The paper analyzed the influence of different parameters to CD quality and gave some quality improving methods.This paper consists of six sections. Firstly the development of optical disc storage technology in world and the key process technology of recordable disc and the main content of our research are introduced. Secondly we describe the structure, information format, physical parameters and electrical parameters of the DVDR disc. In the third and fouth sections we analyze the production processes of the DVDR disc, discusse emphatically injection molding and dye coating in mathematical and experimental ways, introduce systematically some test devices and some parameters of DVDR, and define the test methods of them. Then, some test results are analyzed. At last, the summary of our work is given out.
