With the development of modern communication technology, the wireless communication technology has got broad application in a lot of fields. Compared with wired devices,it is much more convenience to carry, unnecessary to arrange wires. These advantages especially meets the application's needs of the communication devices which are expected to be mobile, or equipments whose work are restricted by the inside wired circuit.This thesis begins with introduction of the project's background, technology standards, principles and its application fields. Then on the basis of understanding of standards, I select a new wireless communication technology standard for short distance—ZigBee to structure a network with features of short transceiver distance, low complication degree, low power consumption, low data rate and low cost. It can be used with in industrial equipments such as articulated arm-measuring machines, the extended application fields includes industrial control, consumptive electronic equipments, environment detection, agricultural automatization and medicine devices control etc.The primary work of the thesis are as follows: according to the developing principle for communication system and embedded system, selecting an appropriate hardware and software platform, then focus on designing and implementing the structure of software system. In hardware design, I select RF transceiver CC2420 as the main chip of RF module, microcontroller PIC18LF4620 as the network terminal nodes and coordinator's master control MCU, to realize a star-topology network according with our own simplified ZigBee standards. The software design includes designing the structure of software and implementing communication protocol stack, the emphasis is planning and debugging for the wireless communication protocol. According to the practical needs of system, the PHY, MAC and APL protocols are implemented selectively in communication protocol stack to fit the system based on IEEE 802.15.4 standards and Zigbee Specification V1.0.Finally, the performances including communication distance, speed, BER&PER etc are measured and analyzed.
