Traditional methods of circuit simulation can be classified into analogue simulation and digital simulation. Each of the two simulations has itself method of signal description and simulation algorithm. The analogue simulator solves the system equations, dealing with continuous quantity, while the digital simulator introduces event-driven approach, dealing with discrete quantity. Nowadays, a growing number of circuit design need mixed-signal simulation. Using the traditional simulation methods needs to divide mixed circuit manually, control simulation process manually and convert simulation results manually. It is not only time-consuming, but also lack of accuracy, especially disposing of feedback systems. How to make use of the traditional simulation methods to develop mixed-signal simulation has become a serious problem. For the imperative problem, this thesis focuses on the research of mixed-signal simulation methods. This thesis firstly introduces the development status of system simulation and circuit simulation technology, and related field of mixed-signal simulation. Then all kinds of technology in mixed-signal simulation domain were presented, including simulation tools, simulation languages and simulation algorithms. Especially in algorithm, the basic principles and flow of analogue simulation and digital simulation has made detailed discussed. Two key issues in the mixed-signal simulation are synchronization algorithm and signal conversion method between digital engine and the analogue engine. So the introduction emphasis is on mixed-signal synchronization algorithm. And then various synchronization algorithms are analyzed. Aiming at reduction rollback costs, a new synchronization algorithm is introduced to improve simulation operating efficiency by adopting interpolation to calculate the continuous quantity at synchronization point. In order to validate the feasibility of new synchronization algorithm, a mixed-signal simulation environment using simulation backplane is designed. Based on the actual circuit simulation, the correctness of mixed-signal simulation is proved.
