Research And Implementation Of Distributed Network Measurement Probe Based On Xscale

The Internet has already penetrated each corner in the society, people well enjoy the speediness and convenience brought by the Internet technology. When network is running, Internet services provider and vindicator urgently need a network measurement device to monitor the network state and locate the position of network error. In this instance, this paper discusses DNMAI (distributed network measurement and analysis infrastructure), develops a platform of DNMAI measurement probe, and provides steady foundation for network measurement.At first, the paper presents the design of hardware platform in detail, particularly describes hardware design method of the minimal system about PXA255 and the PCB layout of high speed signal. The successful design makes the probe run steadily. Then the basic probe software platform is also introduced in this paper. According to its characteristic a special bootloader is developed, the embedded Linux operating system and Cramfs file system are also applied, consequently the software platform is constructed.The technology of data manager is researched, and the construction of the probe's application software platform based on embedded database SQLite is also proposed. The database has been ported to the probe and the development of the data storage and query modules is achieved, which solves the data transmission between network measurement application software and database. The performance of SQLite is also researched and analyzed. The experiments have shown that it is feasible and works perfect.Finally, the whole paper is summarized and some problems that worth considering are pointed out.
