Recently phased array antennas are more and more widely applied in many different wireless systems such as civilian and military radar. So phased array antenna measurement is concerned. In this paper, a new method in measuring phased array antenna quickly is mainly described. This paper includes that printed dipole antennas was designed as the element of planar antenna array and its structure was optimized to get low standing wave and wide bandwidth. Based on this element a planar antenna array was designed and the pattern of the centre element in the array was calculated by MOM. The pattern and gain in any disposing-phase status can be expressed by this model. With this method, the receiving signal of the probe is measured with a fixed distance of phase array antenna and the probe. Experimental data is disposed by mathematic algorithm, thus amplitude and phase in each channel is determined in any disposing-phases status. All the pattern can be recovered only through a test result. Some special controls can be found in all the possible disposing-phase to simplify the solution of the linear model, thus increasing the research efficiency. With this new technology, the research time has been greatly reduced,and the environment requirements are not so strict,thus making this method quite practical and useful in effect.
