Remote sensing is a rising integrated technology. It gathered the last word, such as space,electron,optics,computer,biology,geography and so on. Remote sensing is an important part of modern advanced technology. One of its developmental directions is improving the sensor's space and spectral differentiate. As a whole, it shows itself five trends, namely, many flat roof, many sensors, many times, much spectrum and many angles. It disposes and analyzes the data from different sensor rapidly. At present, remote sensing has become the absolutely necessarily tool and means. Remote sensing that plotting the sight types is the primary application in sight ecology. It plays a main action in studying sight structure. Because of remote sensing data has the specialty of expansive overlay and high updating speed. But the combination superiority and potential between them do not exert fully.This study is held out by the layout item of Pingyang soil utilize which is carried by Zhejiang soil reconnaissance and layout academe, Zhejing Pingyang is selected by way of investigated section. The main data is SPOT-5 image of Pingyang in Dec 2002. Also the panchromatic image was past by geometry revised and matched the relief map well. The reference data is the sifted information of ground utilized in Pingyang. The method of classing sight is carried by ERDAS IMAGINE. Gain the result as follow:1. Open out and enlarge the function of ERDAS IMAGINE.2. The technology of image merging has the embedded cognition. Lucubrated three basal methods of image merging, used by SPOT-5, bring forward a estimate way of merging arithmetic which is based on sight classify.3. Provide a complete set of method that class sight, using remote sensing image in ERDAS IMAGINE.4. SPOT-5 image is able to be applied in class sight. It is satisfied the request of sight classify. After image disposal such as image merging, it is able to pick-up the information of sight character well.
