Visualization in Scientific Computing (VISC) is a kind of newly developed subject in the 1980s. It is based on computer graphics and image manipulation technology, and the data generated in the procedure and the calculation results will be changed graphics or images, which are displayed on the screen for interactive processing. The core of visualization in scientific computing is visualization of three dimensional spatial data sets. There are several algorithms for visualization.The direct volume rendering is a rapidly developed visualization method of three dimensional data sets in recent years and is a hot research field, which has muchresearch value and future application.In this thesis ,the conception of VISC is recommended firstly, several method about visualization of 3D data sets,the core of VISC is introduced, and then their characters and differences are analyzed. After that, we introduce several classifications about algorithm of volume rendering and expound the characteristic of every algorithm.Then,we compare with the algorithm of volume renderingThen,the thesis introduce the basic concept and the key technology of volume rendering,including the optical modal,classification of voxel,sequence of cell,space transformation,projection transformation and image composition are analyzed. We focus on the transformation function of opacity.Through the analysis of the volume rendering,we concludes their improvement, and get the effective method of reducing computation cost of resampling to improve the efficiency of the algorithm.Finally ,it presents a better cell projection algorithm of volume rendering with the research of cell projection.The data sets which we discuss in the thesis is constructed by tetrahedron.First we must judge the shape of projection.We put the eye position in the origin,judege the shape of projection by the sign eye position's of barycentric coordinate.Second , improve the effect of the rendering by neglecting the blank cell .Compounding the transparency with the aid of barycentric coordinate. Experiments prove that it achieve its effect.
