With the development of computer, Internet and microelectronics, the video process system was widely applied in daily life, industry,medical treatment and others. Now most of digital video monitoring systems on the market work by an image capturing card in PCI socket which work unstably, price is too high, and can not work in bad circumstance, and so on. On the other hand, many powerful embedded processors, such as TI's DSP and Motolora's PowerPC appear, whose performanceis higher and higher correspondingly price is lower and lower.Especially, DSP chips include abundance of peripheral interface and has very high programmed ability, which make the hardware and sofoware of video monitoring system be implemented easily.But also, this embedded system conquer many deficiencies of the system based on PC. The video process system based on the DSP, as an important technique of real-time video process, has been the emphasis of research.This paper mainly research and design a universal embedded video monitoring system.The central processor is TI's dedicated multimedia processor TMS320DM642. At first, videoprocess system was designed, including video circuit, audio circuit, power circuit. On the basis, it makes the video systems to achieve transmission network and remote storage.Ethernet network interface design systems, will transmit the video data to PC client by the Ethernet transmission, to achieve the remote monitoring function.
