LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology is one of the key techniques of the future mobile communication systems. In the LTE system, automatic neighbour relation has become a requirement of the specification. Next generation mobile networks will be of automatic configuration, optimization, and operation maintenance. Automatic neighbour relation function can realize the self-configuration and self-optimization of neighbour relation. It not only have the statistics of the whole network, but also can ease the working strength of the network planning and optimizing staff, reducing operational expenditure. Researches on automatic neighbour relation in LTE system are necessary.Based on the analysis of the traditional methods of neighbour relation configration, studies on automatic neighbour relation in LTE system is conducted. According to the features of LTE system and the shortcomings of the traditional configuration of neighbour relation, an automatic neighbour relation algorithm in LTE system is proposed. For missed neighbour cell and redundancy neighbour cell, the detection methods and processing priciples are proposed respectively. For across-boundary coverage neighbour cell, three decision algorithms are proposed. And as to Phy-CID Conflicting, the algorithm avoids handover (HO) failure by adding the attribution of"Conflict"in automatic neighbour relation lists. The ANR algorithm gain is simulated by evaluating call drop rate and HO success rate in a variety of scenes with different neighbour cell miss level. The results of the simulation show that the HO success rate and call drop rate improve obviously with the complement of missed neighbour cell.
