Power line carrier (PLC) technology which uses power line as the medium totransmit signals is one of the communication methods. It is carefully researched in thisthesis. Firstly, the current state of PLC communication, the fundamental principle ofOFDM and CDMA, and the key technologies in these systems are discussed. Then theapplication of OFDM and CDMA in the PLC communication is given in the thesis.With the comparison of OFDM and CDMA, we can easily find out that they both haveadvantages and disadvantages in the PLC system. In this thesis, we give a combinationtechnology between OFDM and CDMA, which is MC-CDMA, as well as its applicationin the PLC communication. Modulation technologies are also briefly discussed in thethesis. Based on BPSK, we give a matlab simulation that compare the transition SNRand BER in gauss channel and PLC communication channel. From the simulationresults, we find that single carrier PLC communication system is not good to transmithigh rate signal. In order to find a good way to transmit broadband signal, anothermatlab simulation is done to compare the performances among CDMA, OFDM, andMC-CDMA technologies in the PLC communication system. From the result, we canfind that MC-CDMA is the best method in broadband PLC communication.
