Laser Gyro is an ideal device of strap down gyro inertial system, whereas optical resonator is the core component of Laser Gyro. So the performance and precision of Laser Gyro are largely dependent on the degree of optical resonator loss. The subject of this paper is based upon the measure need of the loss of out-of-plane ring resonator which is the core component of out-of-plane resonator Laser Gyro.To design a loss instrument which adopts resonance method and optical cavity decay time method according to the requirement of out-of-plane ring resonator loss measurement is the main work in this paper. The design of optical structure and software system about loss instrument of out-of-plane ring resonator is described particularly in this paper. And also, the CCD imaging system which can be used in adjusting ring resonator is designed. The relative position of aperture and laser beam in the out-of-plane ring resonator is measured adopting the method of image process, and meanwhile the precision of resonator is adjusted according to observing the images obtained from aperture and laser beam, and adjusting the positions of spherical mirror located in resonator.
