With the rapid development of wireless networks and the mobile terminals, portable devices have changed greatly. This can be reflected on the hardware. For example, the processor is becoming more and more powerful, and the storage space is becoming larger and larger, and the screen is becoming larger and larger. At the same time, in terms of software, lots of applications have emerged. Therefore video code has become more and more important.In this thesis, a design scheme for a video handset for personal communication based on ADSP-BF561 dual-core processor. It can be used to fulfill real time communication wirelessly at home or in offices or even outdoors and process multimedia signals combined with audio, video and so on.The hardware of video terminal doesn't adopt the traditional structure based on MCU and DSP, instead of adopting the ADI Corporation BlackFin series dual-core processor ADSP-BF561. It has more excellent performance, and is more suitable for multimedia processing and network interaction development.The software of video terminal have two parts. The one is that the CoreA of ADSP-BF561 which embedded uClinux operating system is responsible for video signal acquistion and the compressed data transmition and display over WLAN. The other is that the CoreB of ADSP-BF561 is responsible for video encoding or decoding with H.264 standard.To accomplish the scheme, the transplant and optimizations for H.264 encoder are carried out on ADSP-BF561 platform, the uClinux device drivers are programmed respectively, and so on. It is capable of multimedia signal collection, processing and transmission on live.
