Abstract/Summary:
Ocean ambient noise (OAN) is not only the background noise of all kinds of underwater acoustic system. But it also carries a lot of information about interesting sea area. So a characteristic analysis of OAN is of great benefit to many aspects. This paper focuses on the development of a OAN acquisition system (OANAS) based on Digital Signal Processor (DSP), Vector hydrophone, Compact Flash (CF) card, wireless bridge and serial devices.Firstly, a system design scheme of OANAS has been provided based on the operational environment, the function and the demands. Secondly, a hardware system of OANAS is designed according to the demand of long-time operation, remote control and communication, low power consumption. OANAS chooses TI's TMS320VC5509A with low power consumption as CPU. The main storage is CF card, which is compatible with Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE)/ Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA) protocol. Nport 5430 and BreezeNet DS.11 are used for communication. In chapter third, the programs based on DSP are developed. 32-Bit File Allocation Table (FAT32) format file system is used for data storage on the CF card. Serial communication and wireless communication is united for data transmission. Finally, this paper gives some discussions on some problems occurred in the pool and sea experiment and relevant resolutions. The results from sea experiment show that this OANAS satisfies the demand and can be applied to underwater acoustic research field.
