This dissertation combines the current P2P network with the stream-media technology by analyzing the stream-media protocol.After careful studying on the principle, the architecture, the transmission protocol and the work flow of PeerCast Model, we present a design scheme on designing of a P2P Video-On -Demand(VOD) System. This scheme has the features of the high successful connection rate and fast network connections.Stream-media technology is a key technology in network multimedia applications. As Video-On-Demand(VOD), long-distance teaching, network entertainment, video communication and other stream- media applications begin to attract more attentions in current network multimedia applications, the stream-media technology becomes a new way in research and appplications ,current existing application systems include PPLive ,PPSream and so on.PeerCast is an open source software with the mergence of P2P technology and stream-media technology.A PeerCast system doesn't have a centralized central stream-media server, any network node can broadcast as a seed node, and every nodes receiving media data from other nodes are at the same time servers, providing services to other nodes.This dissertation firstly analyses the P2P network technology, and combines the stream-media technology about transmission with network protocol, then, we analyze the PeerCast system's principle,the architecture and the work flow. Based on the research, we design a Video-On-Demand(VOD) system--PVOD, the dissertation gives a project about system design, transmission algorithm, design player, at last implements the PVOD system.
