The Application And Research Of Software Test Automation

Based on the regression test of a large vehicle dealership ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system ERA and studying on various test automation techniques, this paper brings forward an applicable test automation framework to the project and implements the automated regression test by using Mercury QuickTest Professional functional automation test tool.The framework presented in this paper combines the data-driven script technology and the keyword-driven script technology's advantages together on the basis of study and comparison in various test automation frameworks. The characteristic of the data-driven script technology is the mutual separation of data and test operation, which makes the test scripts easy to be maintained and reused. The keyword-driven script technology enables the transformation from test cases to test scripts. The test automation framework is applied to the regression test of ERA system. And the implementation of automated regression test achieves the following operations: accurate identification on dynamic test objects by the test tool; the synchronous operation between test tool and tested application; the integrated management of test scripts, test execution and submitting defects from QuickTest Professional to Quality Center. The successful implementation of the automated regression test significantly reduces the workload, improves the efficiency of the regression test and achieves satisfactory test results.
