The development of electronic business is correlative with economy and information technologies. The technology of early electronic business is EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and based on static web page. And the traditional distributed computing technologies (CORBA, DCOM, etc) have some problems which are hard to be solved, such as the remote information exchange, communication between different applications on the heterogeneous platforms and going through the firewall transparently. So, it is necessary to look for a new dynamic electronic business application model.XML (eXtensible Markup Language) can meet the requirement of data integration because it can define itself and can be expanded. At the same time, the technology of Web Services can solve the problems of cross-Platform, going-throgh-firewall, and so on. This paper brings forward a new B2B electronic business application model- a web quoting system of a tire company that combines well strong transport capability of Web Services and agility of XML. The quoting system implements a new electronic business application architecture based on XML and Web Services. With SOAP as the communication method on services, the system can be expanded and be applied on the heterogeneous platforms, and it shields the differents of heterogeneous data sources. Besides, data can go through the firewall transparently because the system is based on Web Services and SOAP uses the HTTP protocol. This advantage has facilitated greatly data exchanging between commerce enterprises and the mapping between XML and other heterogeneous data sources. The model of the quoting system of a tire company embodies the advantage of the separation of the contents and forms of XML and the new component thinking in Web Services, So it is easy that exchanging and publishing information in distributed applications of electronic business.
