In the field of virtual reality technology, virtual plant was a hot topic. Virtual plant had been used in agriculture, ecology, botany, forestry, virtual learning, and other areas. The paper simulated the chinar tree. The work was split into three issues, the first issue concerned how to model the chinar leaf. In order to simulate the chinar leaf virtually, this thesis proposed a high effective modeling method. It used random location method to generate the leaf vein, use Bezier curve to express the edge of leaf, and model the leaf surface with breakdown mesh generation method, so Smoothing and continuity are deserved. It mapped the surface with a Cluster-based texture mapping method, and real-time rendering the leaf model with PRT illumination model to gain a virtual effect. The results showed that this method can generate a variety of changes in the shape of the nelson leaf, thereby expressed the shape information virtually. The second issue dealt with the state space stuff, After studied the state space theory, in three-dimensional State space, the paper used the state vector to simulate the stem's growth, light and dignity effecting were concerned. The third issue focused on the growth process of the chinar tree. The thesis modeled the chinar growth with L-system. Studied L-system's basic theory. Summarized and abstracted experience of chinar tree growth process. Initiated states and rules, generated sequences of characters with iterative method, a string geometric explanation was carried out, and then the chinar tree's growth process was simulated.
