With the development of society, product design turns into"fitting people", which requires products'using adaptability and emotional adaptability. This brings the possibility of integrating universal theories with emotional design factor. In China, consumers possess their different characteristics comparing with those in other countries. This makes an environment for the realization of the emotional methods of universal design. The emotionally universal product design calls for some pertinent theory as guidance. As a result, the research and the development of the emotional methods of universal design are urgent needed.This paper has discussed detailed methods and essential attentions, and as a turning point, has done a well-rounded study of the emotional methods of universal design, based the present theories on the Universal Design and the Emotional Design.1. In light of the present theories on the Universal Design and the Emotional Design, the related emotional complexions of the universal design and the emphasas in researches on the universal theories and the emotional principle have been analyzed. On the basis of full argument, the feasibility of the emotional methods of the universal design has been advanced.2. According to a good deal of marketing research and datum analysis, the adaptability of universal theories and emotional principles in natural circumstance has been discussed by proceeding from the social background and cultural environment. On the basis of this, the necessity of enhancing the emotional fator in the universal design has been pointed out.3. Based on sufficient analysis and argument, the methods and the attentions of the emotionally universal design on product elements are provided in aspects of man-machine engineering, readability, aesthetic sensibility and emotionality, in accordance with characteristics of Chinese customers.4. According to product life cycle,the integrated use of the emotional methods of universal design has been developed for enterprises, including sensory imagery using in the development stage, general treatments in the growth stage, series design in the maturity stage and product detail modify in the decline stage. 5. During every four stage of product life cycle, products are designed that is guided by the emotional methods of universal design. The reliability of the methods has been reasoned by design analysis and evaluation.
