One of the most important topics in wireless communication system is to improve the communication channel capacity and to realize high speed and high quality communications. The multiple antennas system can equivalent the fading coefficients between transmit-receive antenna pairs to several parallel independent sub-channels, which can be utilized to transmit data as well as to improve the communication quality. Space time coding is a channel coding technology under multi-antenna system. Space time codes can approach the multi-antenna channel capacity.In this dissertation, STTC (Space Time Trellis Code) and serial concatenated Turbo-STTC (SC-Turbo-STTC) are studied. This paper, firstly, analyzes the channel capacity of MIMO and introduces the coding and decoding principle of three chief space time codes. Secondly, summarizes the principle of STTC design. Thirdly, beginning with the design and simulation of simple two antennas system, this article studies the searching of optimum space time trellis code of arbitrary antennas using up-triangle matrix method and studies the searching of sub-optimum space time trellis code of arbitrary antennas using generate-matrix method, for dealing with the problem of the complexity of searching. Fourthly, using matrix-block method and two basic STTC principles, proposes a new optimization algorithm of space time trellis code and the simulation result is given. Finally, this paper studies two space-time turbo codes which have full space diversity and full code-rate.
