With the rapid development of lighting roof metal structure in our country, the application field of lighting roof metal structure broadens unceasingly, and its structure form diversifies gradually, which makes the traditional structure analysis methods cannot meet the needs of engineer application analysis any more. However, the computer aided engineering (CAE) software available for structure analysis do not fit the lighting roof metal structure analysis well, and operating procedure of the software is also complicated. What's more, it lacks the ability to integrate with CAD, support engineering modeling and engineering post-processing, which troubles the engineering application analysts a lot. Obviously, there is certain theoretical significance and greater practical value in researching lighting roof metal structure and developing CAE system for it.First, based on the analyzing development status of CAE software home and abroad, aiming at the structure characteristics of lighting roof metal structure and analysis needs of CAE, this paper put forward a three-layer software architecture general design plan for lighting roof metal structure analysis CAE system based on ObjectARX, with AutoCAD as the graphics-processing platform and the secondary development technology of ANSYS.Second, this paper studied the key technologies for developing the CAE system for lighting roof metal structure, such as graphics database development of the CAE system, structural optimization design and engineering modeling of lighting roof metal structure and so on. The graphics database of CAE system is constructed based on the graphics database of AutoCAD, which gives a support to the engineering application solution scheme of model design, model calculation, model verification and calculation book generating etc. Based on structural optimization design technology of ANSYS, with the program interface of secondary development of ANSYS, the Integration mode of optimization analysis between the CAE system and ANSYS is proposed. It enriches and perfects the function of the CAE system for lighting roof metal structure, and also enlarges the project applying area. Based on the analysis of the features of the engineering model for lighting roof metal structure, this paper summarized engineering modeling thought of the CAE system and studied a method of parametric drive and vectorgraph recognition for modeling and established the architecture of model edition to create and edit various engineering models conveniently.At last, based on the studies on the core technologies of the system, the CAE system for lighting roof metal structure is developed with AutoCAD as the graphics-processing platform. The system is characterized by friendly operation interface, convenient operation, broad applicability and powerful post-processing. It has been applied in several enterprises, with good application effects.
