MPEG-4 Coding Algorithms Implementation And Its Optimization Based On DSP

With the development of information society, multimedia technology is getting more and more applications. In the world of multimedia, video codec plays a key role, especially in the areas of image communication, video surveillance, streammedia, digital TV. Through video compression, the sampling, storage, processing and transmitting of ultra-large video data become possible.There are two mature video compression standard in internation arena, MPEG series and H.26x series. In this paper, the implementation of video compression system is based on the MPEG-4 standard. Current the research of MPEG-4 video coding implementation used embedded systems becomes hot and difficult area, the main reason for this is that the embedded systems have highspeed, stable performance, and easy-to-use advantages, but also because the MPEG-4 is a complex algorithm, it needs large of data and high speed in real-time system. The mainly research of this paper is to realize a MPEG-4 video compression system, using the ADSP-BF533 as the handware platform core.At the beginning of this paper, we will introduce the development history and the current status of the video compression standad, then focus on the MPEG-4 encoder structure and its core technology, and analyse the key modules of it, such as prediction coding, motion estimation, statistical coding. After this encoder for DSP platform transplantation, with the feature of ADSP-BF533 processor structure, we successfully manage the memory space, and optimize the key algorithms in ADSP-BF533 asm language, such as DCT transformation, quantization, half-pixel interpolation, the search algorithm of motion estimation. During the project, we conclude some methodologies and techniques for the development of video compression system based on ADSP-BF533, which is helpfuf for the future software development based on DSP platform.
