In recent years, with people's pursuit of new types of entertainment, emerging business of IPTV based on IP networks has been well developed and becoming advanced; online game system, as one of its most promising value-added service, has also been focused on more and more. Therefore, it is of great significance for us to study the key technologies of high performance server design and develop our own network game system on IPTV.This paper studied current development of network game industry and the characteristic of IPTV online game system, and then brought forward the target of this paper: design and implement IPTV online game system of high performance.This paper first studied key technologies of high-performance server design, including highly efficient I/O model, multiple-thread parallel processing model, mechanism of memory allocation based on poll, computer cluster with strategies of load balance. Based on above research and the characteristics of IPTV network game system, this paper put forward a design of server architecture of high scalability, and introduced the detailed design of game logic servers. Furthermore, this paper described the design and implementation of ET-MT session parallel processing module in detail.The design of communication protocol of application layer is another key point of the design of network game platform. So this paper designed a layered game communication protocol, which had high communication efficiency and scalability. This paper also designed and implemented a game client for IPTV STB in terms of its requirement. This paper also researched on strategies for clients to log in game servers, and brought forward an improved method based on random variable.At the end of the paper, the relevant work was summarized and the trend of network game system over IPTV was also prospected.
