The Development Of Community Newspaper In China

With the deepening of the opening-reform policy, the former social structure has been superseded by a new one. Then community plays an important role in social management, regulating and also communication among the people. Especially, community construction shows its significance after the aim of harmony society appears. Community is a part of society, so community's harmony leads the social harmony. As to community newspaper, western countries develop more rapidly and hit the point during the construction of community harmony. The western countries make some efforts and come up with lots of suggestions in building harmony in community and feeling easy at home, which can meet the requirements of Chinese construction. Moreover, China has the postulates to develop the community newspaper. To our surprise, this advanced model goes not very well in China: Nanshan Daily stopped in policy adjustment; Xiang Daily also closed only one year later, and others left are in dilemma. Those above shows the status of community newspaper in China.The thesis will analyze the intrinsic characteristics and development opportunities via the analysis of current status and history of community newspaper, and then find out a way to run community newspaper in order to play media function well in the construction of social harmony.The thesis consists of seven parts as following:The 1^st is an introduction of the purpose and significance, innovation and difficulties. The 2nd part analyzes the connotation and extension of the definition and the intrinsic characteristics.The 3^rd part generalizes three characteristics of western countries through analyzing the models and features in USA, Canada. Meanwhile, it also includes the reform of information technology in western countries. At last, it analyzes the social, substantial and industrial elements in the running process of western countries.The 4^th part analyzes the social foundations of the appearance and development of community newspaper and its significance in this era. The last part presents the successful experience of running community newspaper according to the investigation and analysis of Nanshan Daily.
