With the rapid development of computer network and communication technology, the application of embedded system using real time operating system and communicatin processor is becoming a hot point, and widely used in the areas of communication, aviation, mechanical, consumption and so on.The embedded system is generally composed of hardware, Board Support Package (BSP), embedded operation system and user applications. BSP, as the core software to perform the boot procedure of operating system and drive hardware and device, is whether concise, efficient and reliable or not, which has bocome one ctiteria of embedded system. Thus, it is a significative subject to design and implement of embedded operating system BSP.This thesis first introduces the features and constitution of embedded real time operating system and BSP, and analyzes BSP's main code flow and typical framework. Then four BSP design methods are discussed. In the following chapters, VxWorks BSP based on PowerPC and Linux BSP based on ARM are implemented respectively, and the testing results are provided. At last all work of thesis is concluded and some orientations of further research are pointed. The design methods discussed of this thesis can optimize BSP's performance and extend BSP's function. The implementation of VxWorks BSP and Linux BSP could be used by similar systems as reference.
