With the rapid development of computer technology, communicationtechnology and consumer electronic technology, real-time embedded system has been widely used. There are a lot of demands for real-time embedded operating system in fields of scientific research, engineering design, military technology, commerce entertainment etc. The purpose of my work is to design and realize a real-time embedded operating system based on Linux.After introducing some relevant concepts about real-time embedded operating system simply and investigate the real time embedded operation system base on Linux, this paper discourses upon the author's research work on "information and smart device oriented embedded software platform" which is part of national 863 plan. The major research of the thesis is to develop Linux based embedded operating system TLinux(Telecom Linux) and its embedded software development platform. This paper first discusses the definition and specialty of embedded system and formulizes the definition, classification and yardstick of real time system and introduces several relatively mature real time operating system. It then discoures upon the advantages of Linux as embedded operating system and points out the main technique obstacle,comprehensively analyzes the technology of present linux real time extension and its advantage and disadvantage. On the basis of analyzing RTLinux in deep, the author reconstructs the RTLinux kernel and modify it to the TLinux kernel.What's more ,the author optimize the real time performance of TLinux kernel; and then talk about the approaches and processes of testing the real time nature of TLinux kernel; and then specifies the implementation of vxworks programming interface on TLinux; at finally this paper summarizes the author's research works and prospect of future work.
