Virtual reality technology is a high and new technology integrated by man and information sciences. It is constituted by man and computer interaction of 3-Dimensional spatial environment. The user can feel the outside world even though he is not out when he used virtual reality technology. Guided by digital earth, the ocean scene was built and how to animate the waves was studied.Making animating of wave is an interesting and challenging problem in Computer Graphics. The behavior of water wave is one of the most important aspects of wave animation.This paper present a good model for the surface of the ocean based on the Fournier wave model. The main contents of this study are:(1) Animating the basal ocean surface in the light of the Fournier wave model. The wave shapes are varied according to the ocean factors such as the wind and the ocean floor.(2) Reconstructing the Fournier wave model for simulation and animation breaking waves. People devote themselves to study how to animate breaking waves in recent years, so the technology is not well-rounded. This paper present a method which is recompution the breaking wave based on the Fournier model.(3) Using Fournier model to calculate ocean waves and combining it with Real-time Optimal Adaptive Meshes(ROAM) algorithm for generating an large-scale 3D ocean waves scene.
