Augmented reality(AR),a new branch of Virtual reality,is a result developed and combined by Computer Graphics, Human Interface and Sensing Technology. AR is a technology which the computer-generated objects, scene, sound or system suggestive information are superimposed onto the user's vision of the real world, giving the user additional information generated from the computer model by tracking the user's real location . The AR system brings the computer into the"world"of the user by augmenting the environment with virtual objects. This thesis comprehensively introduces and analyses the conception, characteristics, developing direction of Augmented Reality and its difference from Virtual Reality after collecting a mass of international representative research. We analyses the configuration and supported technology of AR system further, lucubrate the key technologies of AR research, which include registration, tracking and integer of image, sound. Then, the emphasis of this thesis is to expound the technology of two eyes stereo imaging and 3D virtual sound. For the former, we prove the demonstrability of two eye stereo imaging with single camera, after analyzing the conception and characteristics of stereo imaging. For the latter, after expounding the key technology of 3D localization of virtual sound source,we discuss the realization of 3D localization of virtual sound source .Lastly, we apply the key technology hereinbefore on a demo of benthonic adventure AR system, which is carried out by using ARToolkit that is based on computer vision localization. The demo satisfys the desire of interaction and immersion by integrating the Man-machine interaction and artificial intelligence.
