Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) is adopted to realize the seamless integration among application systems based on standards, in which the intra- or cross-enterprises business processes, software and hardware are interconnected. The implementation of EAI can makes all the integrated application systems work as a whole, enables the coordination among different departments, and improves ultimately the operation efficiency of enterprises and enterprise chain. The EAI technologies are developing all the time, from CORBA, DCOM and RMI to Web Services and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). The EAI based on ESB is studies in this thesis. Combined with some manufacturing examples, some EAI technologies are compared, and the framework of EAI based on ESB is designed. The development of EAI is introduced in this thesis. Some traditional EAI technologies are compared, and their disadvantages are analyzed. And then several essential characteristics of ESB are introduced in details, such as data transformation and content-based intelligent routing. Finally, the advantages of ESB are given combined with its function and mechanism. Considering the actual situation of the JiangHuai Auto Company, the integration requirements are analyzed, and the integration solution based on ESB technology is given.Combined with the actual situation of Hubei TongDa Company, the storage status of the enterprise chain is compared before and after the implementing of enterprise application integration. And then the framework of the enterprise application integration among the companies based on ESB is studied. The implementation instance of EAI based on ESB is designed using the WebSphere ESB of IBM. Finally, the EAI technology based on ESB is summarized, and some future research directions and potential applications are given.
