In modern manufacturing, advanced equipment have been transformed for fitting more variety, small volume production with CNC machine tools, machining centers, etc, coming out, in the range of NC machining, tools, no mater variety or quantity in the workshop take up an important position as a leading manufacturer. In large enterprises, tools are managed by branch or the workshop, there are many drawbacks. In this paper, a detailed analysis and discussion have been done focusing on the NC database storage technology, access technology, as well as the collective scheme designed and the concrete realization: the research and analysis on the NC Tool Management System in workshop, the establishment of the NC processing workshops Tool Management System based on the database.In this paper, on the base of the research for tool management trends of its development at home and abroad, a comprehensive research and analysis have been done on the tool management system's requirement, function models` design and forms'layout design, point on RDBMS's structure, coding rules , Crystal Report technology and GDI + graphics technologies, as well as diversified modulus'function and the link between them in the system, after the several key technologies for the exploration of a more comprehensive study on them, the contents and results are as follows:(1) Used the three-tier Client / Server software frame developed a corresponding distributed tool management system, achieving day-to-day management and scheduling functions, based on the coding principles, a tool-assisted coding system were established, the coding are provided with succession and extension to detailed, it can express the full information of the tools in detail, truly and fleetly, so that to enhance the management's level in CNC machining centers including relation of the interrelated information and the degree of integration about tools'information, at last achieved the information's sharing, improved the degree of automation in product systems.(2) The establishment of the database software model: According to the requirement of the TMS, eight primary datasheets have been set up and designed, using ADO.NET database interface technology to achieve relational database and the integration of object-oriented design methods, a software tool management framework is being put forward, so that to achieve the communication between tool's information and procedures efficiently.(3) Introduce developed environment of the tool management system myself and system's flow, discuss major functional modules` design features and the main structure briefly on the tools` basic information, search management, data analysis management, in and out management and Crystal Report in system management etc., analyze the key technologies to achieve success. (4) According to the function of the system requirements analysis and definition, analyze the main function of server-side applications and the technologies in the system, and also analyze the system's structure, as well as computer model, the gist of some choice for platform: Functional modules in tool management system are analyzing and developing by using C # and SQL Server 2000.
