The Study Of Wang Yunwu

Mr. Wang Yunwu has made a significant contribution to Chinese librarianship and publishing industry , but he is as a senior official in the KMT government for many years. Due to historical reasons, in the past 50 years, the mainland academics have did little study about him. There is not a reasonable assessment about his contribution to Chinese libraries and publishing industry. In fact, in the background that the Chinese society in transition from the traditional to a modern and the blend of Eastern and Western cultures, Wang Yunwu has made great achievement in the Librarianship from theory to practice , he is a key founder of the Chinese Modern Librarianship.Based on the existing research results, combined with the relevant literature and related information of Mr. Wang Yunwu, this article illustrates his contribution to the cause of Chinese Modern Librarianship in terms of Mr.Wang himself and his contribution to the librarianship and finally gives an objective and fair assessment.The section of"Wang Yunwu himself"was discussed from"Wang Yunwu's life","Wang Yunwu's comments on reading"and"Directing the Commercial Press"to"Abandoned Business for Politics". The main contribution to Librarianship of Wang Yunwu manifested in the first creation of the " unitary classification for Chinese and foreign book".
