Wireless sensor networks as a new network monitoring and control technologies is a intelligent network application system which is able to independently achieve data acquisition, integration and transmission applications. Wireless sensor networks enable information on the logic of the world and in close connection with the real physical world, that is to truly realize the "ubiquitous computing" model. Wireless sensor networks both in the national defense, or in the national economy in all aspects of a broad application prospects.Topology control technology as one of the key technologies of wireless sensor networks, that is of great significance for the stability, routing protocols and data transmission of the entire network.In this paper we discuss a topology control algorithm for WSN (Wireless Sensor Networks), and reform the topology discovery algorithm (TopDisc) proposed previously. For the characteristics of energy-finity and topology structure variability in the case of WSN with fixed nodes, concerning the initial TopDisc algorithm didn't reference the WSN nodes' energy control, we design an improved topology control algorithm named as TopDiscEC (Topology Discovery Algorithm with Energy Control) on the base of TopDisc and make great improvement to make it more energy-saving. Under the new delay mechanisms, the improved algorithm references the nodes'reminded energy which affects the send delay to some degree. There are two kinds of TopDiscEC, inverse ratio type and negative proportion type. Then simulate the algorithm by the software called Visual C++6.0. By analyzing the results, it is proved that new algorithm bring forth more energy saving than initial algorithm. At the end of thesis the future research target of TopDisc topology control algorithm is proposed.
