The oil-water two-phase flow has a wide range of applications in petroleum industry. The water ratio is a key parameter of the oil-water two-phase flow for production, dehydration and transportation, confirming the oil's quality and definite interest of both transaction sides. However, it is difficult to measure the water ratio in crude oil owing to the inherent complexity of the two-phase flow. So the on-line and accurate measurement of the water ratio in crude oil is an imminent demand for petroleum industry.Firstly, the paper introduces the measuring methods of water ratio in crude oil and the research trend of relative products in the home and abroad. The sorts of test methods of the basic principle, applications, merits and demerits are analyzed. The traditional measuring method of water ratio in crude oil is under some working conditions. Ignoring some influences of the objective existence, and that single testing electrical conductivity or dielectric constant. The basis of electromagnetic wave is the attenuation constant and phase-shift constant of oil-water mixture flows which is measured are quite different. The whole scheme has been advanced according the feature of high water ratio in our country, decided measuring the dielectric constant and electrical conductivity in the oil-water mixture simultaneously to obtain the water ratio. It can overcome the effect of electrical conductivity.Proceeding design, make the practical circuit, debug the hardware and software. The instrument use MSP430 low power MCU in hardware, the circuits of producing and magnifying signal, amplitude-phase testing, temperature sensor and wireless communication circuit are designed. The data sample and transportation voltage is realized by the single chip, the water ratio of the crude oil is determined accurately according to the relation between dielectric constant, electrical conductivity in the oil-water and attenuation constant, phase-shift constant. Display data on the LCD after the processing. At the same time, it can communicate with wireless interface in order to transmitting in the distance. In the software part, the paper introduces ADC12 data gathering and processing, temperature measurement, LCD displaying, wireless transmission of flow diagram and main procedures design.The whole system reflects integration, low power, portable in the design and this intelligent instrument can also communicate with wireless interface.
